Carafting

I'm learning to use a sewing machine, and it's exciting! I like to share about my adventures in sewing, and show anyone who’s interested how my projects turn out. I'm a self taught novice and I appreciate instruction and encouragement from those with more sewing experience.

Sewing is not the only crafty thing I do. For instance, I am an avid friendship bracelet maker, and for some reason I can't stop making envelopes out of everything I can get my hands on. (p.s. I love mail!)

Okay, and I cook and I bake too. Yum!

Happy Carafting!

Cool things I’ve found at thrift stores recently.

I think a bunch of an astronomer’s old belongings ended up at the Casa De Los Niños store this past week. I found this NGC object shirt. It looks like it glows in the dark. If it weren’t so faded and didn’t have a crack on the back I would have LOVED it! There’s a neat little solar system orrery. I would be more tempted to buy it if it had a little more accurate sizes and distances.

Can anyone give me a reason to spend $5 on this sparkly dress? It’s a special kind of awesome. I have no good reason to own it though, and I’m really trying to not have too many things I don’t really need.

Most awesome bed baseboard ever.

SO I already told you about these pants that I found at a thrift store for an incredible price. Well I hadn’t found a jacket I like at a thrift store, but I got a gift card for H&M so I looked at jackets there (among other things), and I may have found one I like. I found a couple I liked actually. One was white, but I ended up buying this one. I need your opinion though. Does this outfit look good/professional? Did I do this right? Any advice for improvement?

I want some lace up boots. I want them to be flats, and not very high. Something like this:

I think I want them to be gray.

So I’ve been looking out for something like this in thrift stores. I haven’t found anything I like yet, but you know I’ve found other things.

I only have one pair of dress pants, and they’re brown. So I’ve been wanting some black dress pants, and today I wound up buying 2 pairs at Salvation Army. Salvation Army has some of the best prices of Tucson thrift stores. My total today was $7.05. That was for both pants, and a little bowl. One of the pairs is even Donna Karen New York. Pretty happy with my finds today. :)
