Carafting

I'm learning to use a sewing machine, and it's exciting! I like to share about my adventures in sewing, and show anyone who’s interested how my projects turn out. I'm a self taught novice and I appreciate instruction and encouragement from those with more sewing experience.

Sewing is not the only crafty thing I do. For instance, I am an avid friendship bracelet maker, and for some reason I can't stop making envelopes out of everything I can get my hands on. (p.s. I love mail!)

Okay, and I cook and I bake too. Yum!

Happy Carafting!

This hole in my jeans has been really annoying. I put off fixing it for awhile, but today I finally sewed it up. I used embroidery floss, and I used 2 colors to make it interesting. Anyone have any other ideas for patching up holes? There are so many ways to do it. I had lots of other ideas. How’ve you mended your holey clothes?

Don’t know how good this site really is, but a collection of hundreds of free patterns can’t be too awful. Let’s check it out.

I bought a tie today. 99¢ at a thrift store. Now I want a blue dress shirt and a vest to go with it. I have a vest, but I think another one would go better. I need more vests, ties, and dress shirts. Or, maybe…maybe somebody should stop me before this gets out of hand.

After wearing it for a day, I’ve decided I’ll leave it as is. Pretty happy with this refashion.
I bought this shirt for $1 at a thrift store. I cut off the original collar. It looked tacky to me. The shirt had a stain on it, but you can’t tell after the bleaching. I took in the sides a little so it wouldn’t be baggy on me.

Bought this tank at a Goodwill Outlet for next to nothing. I added some stripes using duct tape and bleach. Then I took in a little bit of the sides so it fits me a little better. It’s not the greatest thing ever, but I’m pretty happy with it, especially considering what I paid!

I made another bleach shirt. It involves the space shuttle! Pictures soon.

I’ve always wanted to do bleach stencils. I finally did tonight. I just did a quick test drive with some old tank tops I never wear anymore. I’m pretty happy with the first one. I messed up the second one, and ended up just spraying all of it with bleach. I’ll do better next time. It was fun.

SO I already told you about these pants that I found at a thrift store for an incredible price. Well I hadn’t found a jacket I like at a thrift store, but I got a gift card for H&M so I looked at jackets there (among other things), and I may have found one I like. I found a couple I liked actually. One was white, but I ended up buying this one. I need your opinion though. Does this outfit look good/professional? Did I do this right? Any advice for improvement?

Reeeally want to make this ugly sweater dress right now. This is such an epic sweater, but I reeeally need to work on the homework that’s due tomorrow. Here’s hoping the homework doesn’t take all night and I get a little bit of time to sew!
